About this program

Humankind is now able, as never before, to observe and measure climate change, thanks to the scores of earth-observing spacecraft that have been providing total global coverage for over half a century. As Mother Nature keeps climate change in the news with increasing urgency, this talk explains what is happening and how we know it. Beginning with a walk-through of the NASA climate webpages, the talk focuses on the key parameters, presenting the simple facts and logic behind climate change, with an emphasis on the researchers and tools (especially complex climate models) that underpin the world’s understanding. Supplementing “the view from space,” the talk comes down to earth to discuss how all nations are collecting the global data necessary to address this truly global issue. This program
