In the wake of centuries of forced removal from their native lands and oppression, the Lenape have continued to pursue their own form of resistance, part of which has resulted in the Federal recognition of the Delaware Tribe of Indians. Learn about the history and culture of the Lenape, their struggle in the face of colonialism, and how the Welcome Home project offers a possible avenue for reparations to pursue moving forward. This presentation will be given by students in Dr. Danielle Widmann Abraham's course, "Sacred Earth: Native Life, Land, and Religious Freedom." Dr. Abraham is Associate Professor of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religion and Coordinator, Peace and Social Justice Studies at Ursinus College.
