PAWS for Reading — Atglen Library

Want to read to a PAWS certified furry friend? Reserve your own special one-on-one 15 minute session to read to our certified volunteer animal! NOTE: Basic reading skills are required for the child to read to the animal. The PAWS for Reading program builds confidence in reading by using a stress-free environment while reading to a trained therapy animal. Children can bring a book from home or choose one from the library. When choosing a book from the library, please arrive early enough to be ready to read at your reserved time. Parents/guardians can remain in the room but cannot sit with the child during the reading time. It is too distracting for our PAWS animal and child. The sessions should be one-on-one between the reader and the PAWS team. This is a Civic Literacy Program.
